Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- Plans are underway to make some major upgrades to the North Point Mall in Alpharetta. Possible changes include demolishing part of the mall and adding a lot of green space. Additional options include a new office building, apartments, and a hotel. These plans are in the public hearing phase. (WSB Atlanta)
- The City of Milton's Police Department will be publishing statistics on "everything our officers do and come across." These quarterly reports are available to the public and compare activities to the same time period the prior year. Their purpose is to improve transparency between the police and the community, as well as help the police decide where to focus their resources. (City of Milton)
- Early voting for the general election starts Monday morning at locations throughout North Fulton County. Registered voters who live in Fulton County can vote at any location within Fulton County during this period. A list of locations can be found here; there are some in Alpharetta and Milton. - The Milton High School Chorus will be having their Fall concert outdoors on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6 PM. Bring your chairs, folding tables and blankets. There will be food trucks starting at 5 PM; no alcoholic beverages allowed on school property. (Milton Concert)
- There are just a few days left to vote on your favorite scarecrow in downtown Alpharetta! The contest ends on Oct. 19, and you can cast your vote by posting a selfie with your favorite one. The scarecrow with the most 'Selfie Votes' will win the People's Choice Award! (City of Alpharetta)
- There are some important Homestead Exemption questions on Milton election ballots. They relate to which categories of residents are eligible for senior homestead exemptions from municipal property taxes. It's suggested that you review these items before heading to the polls.
