1. 4 popular Atlanta restaurants closing by management group (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Alpharetta diners may want to keep an eye on Ocean & Acre, which remains open as its parent group closes four other metro Atlanta restaurants in Buckhead, Dunwoody, and East Cobb. Southern Proper Hospitality hasn’t given closure dates or reasons, but says remaining concepts, including its Alpharetta spot, will continue as it reassesses its portfolio.
   

2. Major cases expected to go to trial in 2026 in metro Atlanta, North Georgia (fox5atlanta.com) — One of 2026’s closely watched cases involves the unsolved 2021 shooting of Kennesaw State graduate Connor Mediate outside an Alpharetta apartment complex, which still has no trial date set. His case is among numerous major murder and violent-crime trials expected across metro Atlanta and North Georgia this year, potentially bringing long-awaited answers for affected families and communities.
   

3. Send Relief marks a year of compassion, collaboration in 2025 (baptistpress.com) — Based out of Alpharetta, Send Relief spent 2025 coordinating disaster response and compassion ministries across the U.S. and around the world. From rebuilding homes after Hurricane Helene to aiding wildfire, flood, and earthquake survivors, the Southern Baptist ministry also expanded its Serve Tour, mobilizing thousands of volunteers and marking five years as a joint NAMB and IMB effort.
   

4. Beloved Tennessee Vols CB silences transfer portal rumors in huge win for Josh Heupel (allfortennessee.com) — An Alpharetta native, cornerback Ty Redmond, is emerging as a key defensive star for the Tennessee Volunteers after a standout freshman season. Despite transfer portal speculation, he’s signaling he’ll stay in Knoxville, giving the Vols crucial stability in their secondary and exciting NFL-level potential for 2026.
