Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- Unfortunately, there is a new phone scam taking place in both Alpharetta and Milton. Residents are receiving calls from scammers posing as current police officers, and they are asking for money to clear up an arrest warrant. For example, Alpharetta residents are being called by scammers using the names of lieutenants French or Freeman. Alpharetta and Milton police are asking the public to hang up immediately if they receive this type of call and check with your local police department regarding any outstanding warrants; do not give out any personal information or purchase any gift cards. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
- Would your child benefit from learning about fire safety? There is an educational event this Friday, June 23 at the Alpharetta Library from 1-3 p.m. It is recommended for children ages 7 and up, and it will take place in a smokehouse RV! No registration is required. Don't miss it! (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
- An employee at nearby Dunwoody's Salon Colour was rushed to the hospital after opening an envelope that contained fentanyl. The stylist collapsed and was treated for breathing in the power dust. The envelope had been received in the mail and sat on a table for weeks before it was opened. It had stickers saying "return to sender" on it, and the return address was the salon. The police don't believe that it originated at the salon. (11Alive.com WXIA)
