  1. A new subdivision in Alpharetta at the corner of Kimball Bridge Road and North Point Parkway will have a monument onsite, as required by the Alpharetta Planning Commission. Empire Communities is the builder, and the new "Pinecone Community" development will have 50 townhouses. In addition to the monument, the builder is required to have a sign saying “Eco District” in the subdivision. The art, which was recently approved by Alpharetta Arts Commission, will be three large pinecones made of steel created by Hartcrafters Metal Art in Lincolnton, North Carolina. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. The Alpharetta City Council has passed new regulations stating that you can be arrested for not showing up at Municipal Court. In addition, there will be additional charges and violations for failing to appear. Any defendants who are arrested will be in custody until they place bond prior to their new court date. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. Several Milton residents along on Freemanville Road, Francis Road and Glencreek Way had their mailboxes stolen. The thefts occurred within five miles of each other, and one mailbox was found in a ditch. Strangely, the suspects left the mail behind. Residents are asked to check their security camera footage and contact the police with any clues. (WSB)
  4. Finding a parking space at the Atlanta airport is about to change again. Portions of the North Terminal deck are closed due to construction, and more will be shut down soon. The South deck will be reopened in mid- February. These closures are part of a multi-year project to improve the airport's 40+ years old parking decks. The airport is recommending that flyers allow extra time for parking, check space availability online and park off site if necessary. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)

From my notebook:

  • Kudos to Milton Firefighters, who helped to save a woman's life last month at Cabernet Restaurant on Windward Parkway. She choked on her steak and couldn't breathe. The Milton Police were unable to help her using the Heimlich maneuver and she "was non-responsive with no pulse" when firefighters arrived. They performed CPR and used a video laryngoscope, which allowed them to find the blockage. This tool was purchased in 2021 thanks to Milton's City Council. The woman was brought to the hospital and was walking around later that day. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
