'Plan The Park' Process Underway In Milton
The city of Milton is undertaking a planning process to transform the former Country Club into a public park and recreation facility.

MILTON, GA — The city of Milton, residents and stakeholders continue to map out their vision of the former Country Club property. A series of meetings were held in October to generate ideas on how Milton can transform the property into a world-class amenity enjoyed by all residents.
While the initial meetings are over, the city said the bulk of its Plan The Park process is just getting started.
"This is a comprehensive process that begins with very high level information, and then works its way down to more detailed discussion, ultimately delivering a draft concept plan for The Park that is presented to the community and the Council for official comments and feedback," Milton said on Thursday. "We will continue to keep you updated on opportunities to engage and offer input."

A website is now set up and serves as a clearing house for all materials related to the park's panning process. You can visit the website to get up to speed about the project.
The city in February made its first greenspace bond purchase when it acquired the property, which totals more than 130 acres. The passive areas of the park remain closed to the public; however, Milton was able to get the active elements (tennis and swim) temporarily going to accommodate the 2018 swim and tennis seasons until the community planning process could facilitate the long-term master plan for this new city park.

Other updates related to the former Milton Country Club include:
- Passive areas of The Park (i.e. former golf course) remain officially closed to the public, including adjacent residents.
- Active programs (swim and tennis) for 2019 will be discussed in the coming weeks.
- Golf course easements have been officially abandoned and recorded with Fulton County.
- Termination of golf cart path easements is being addressed as part of the current community planning process.
- Mowing schedules have been suspended for the season, but will begin again in the spring. Landscape crews will be using this time frame for other periodic maintenance such as branch removal.
- The South Woods have been excluded from mowing this season as we've been testing the natural reforesting process in this more remote section of the passive acres.
