Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:
- The individuals who were killed in the tragic plane crash in Alpharetta are a local dentist plus his wife and dog. Max and Sharon Cohen were on the plane when it went down, along with their golden retriever. Max was the pilot and may have had a medical emergency while onboard. Max had a dental practice in Dunwoody and was partners with his daughter, Sandi. The NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash. (WSB- TV)
- The holidays are fast approaching, and one great way to get in the spirit is to go to Milton's "Holiday Market Shop, Sip & Stroll on The Green" next Friday. There will be a visit from Santa, homemade items for purchase including gourmet items, candles and art. There will also be live music from the Alpha Jazz Band. It will be at Crabbaple Market from 2-6 p.m. (Appen)
- Kudos to Milton's Sandra DeWitt, who's the City Arborist. She was honored with an award from the state for "Plant! Milton." This successful program benefits our community in many ways, as there are educational materials, Q&A on Milton's Facebook page, free classes, tours and much more. The focus is on how to plant and take care of trees, which makes Milton's quality of life even better. Check out her free tour at Bell Park! (City of Milton)

From my notebook:
- Alpharetta's Fire Station Drive Thru Halloween was a huge success! It was a great time for the kids to show off their costumes while having a fun and safe experience seeing the firehouse. Thanks to all who helped out! (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
- Residents of Alpharetta's Kimball Bridge Road are unhappy with the plans for school redistricting. Parents are pushing back on potential changes to a longstanding feeder pattern Currently, those students in this area attend nearby New Prospect Elementary that feeds into Webb Bridge Middle School and Alpharetta High. The new plan is to switch them to Haynes Bridge Middle and Centennial High in Roswell. Many parents from this area, along with Board Member Katie Reeves, attended a recent meeting to oppose these changes. (Appen)
- The basketball floor of the Alpharetta Community Center is brand new! It's made of maple and has a glistening, all-wood tone finish. Wyatt Knowles of Alpharetta celebrated the new floor by besting City Administrator Chris Lagerbloom and other more experienced players in a game of C-O-O-L (our version of the classic H-O-R-S-E).
