Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. There are plans to replace three bridges in Milton, and the city recently asked for public input on these projects. Although construction won't start for years, GDOT has compiled the feedback received because the projects are being planned now. The bridges are at Birmingham Road between Henderson and Hopewell roads, Freemanville Road just north of Creek Road and Hopewell Road south of Birmingham Road/Fossil Trace and north of Kings County Court. You can learn more about these projects online. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  2. The Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Woman Excelling Program next month. Attendees will learn more about the program and have a chance to connect with other WE members. It will take place on May 16 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Hamilton Hotel in downtown Alpharetta. Tickets include light hors d’oeuvres and two drink tickets. 3. Milton's “Meet the Neighbor” event last week was a huge success. Hundreds of people attended, and they met horses, learned about different animals, supported local businesses and more. They learned how the Milton Fire-Rescue Department rescues deer, cows and horses in distress. It took place in Milton's beautiful Freemanville-Birmingham greenspace. (City of Milton)
  4. The City of Milton held ribbon cutting ceremonies for two popular restaurants that recently moved downtown! They are Six Bridges Crabapple and Spiced Right BBQ. Six Bridges is now located at 1850 Heritage Walk and is Milton's first brewery. Spiced Right BBQ is at the same location, and the establishments are a great place to "enjoy a tasty beverage, savor some BBQ, or participate in fun events like live music, trivia, bingo and disc golf." (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  5. The Daffodil Days Market in Johns Creek last month was a huge success. It was the final event in a series that promoted community service. Many organizations participated in the community service including the Rotary Club of Johns Creek North Fulton, Girl Scouts, local schools and other groups. There was music, baked goods, honey, candles, flower arranging, refreshments, children's activities and more. (Appen Media)
