Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- Are you interested in learning about plans for Windward Parkway and Highway 9? There is a strategic plan for this area, which is in both Alpharetta and Milton, to improve traffic, green space, mobility and more. The plan includes a market study to aid developers, updates to the 2012 Strategic Master Plan and economic development strategies. There have been many changes to this area in the past 10 years. Check out this link to learn more about this project and other ones in the works. (North Fulton)
- Roswell police are investigating a scam where someone called a resident claiming that he was his son and asked for bail money. The man who made the phone call was sobbing and was hard to understand. Then, the resident received another call from someone else claiming to be a lawyer and instructed the victim to place over $25,000 in cash into a sealed box and wait for someone to pick it up. The "courier" showed up in a black Honda Civic and took the box. Later, the victim spoke with his son, who told him that he hadn't been arrested. (Appen)
- There is good news for drivers who use Windward Parkway driving east of GA 400 in Alpharetta. Due to construction between North Point Parkway and Alderman Drive, the sensors (called traffic loop detectors) that influence traffic signal timing were damaged. As a result, the traffic lights in this area aren't changing at the appropriate times. The work to repair the sensors will start in a couple of weeks and will take just a few days to be completed. - Milton Veterans Memorial Markers volunteers have placed markers in Crabapple, Highway 9 and Webb Road areas to honor late veterans. All of these veterans have a connection to Milton, and some date back to the Revolutionary War. Here is a link where you can find specific markers in this region: https://miltonveterans.org/findamarker/. In addition, there will be a Memorial Day Ceremony at The Green at Crabapple Market on Monday, May 29 starting at 10 a.m. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
