A Salvation Army volunteer was collecting donations outside Walmart in Milton when his backpack was taken, police said.

MILTON, GA — Milton police have identified and arrested a man who is accused of taking a backpack belonging to a Salvation Army volunteer who was soliciting for donations last month outside Walmart.

Scott Allen Dobbs, 34, is charged with criminal trespassing and theft by taking, according to Fulton County Jail records. Dobbs is accused of taking the backpack from the volunteer around 11:44 a.m. Nov. 23 in the front entrance of the store at 5200 Windward Parkway. Milton police said the volunteer brought with him a backpack containing his Thanksgiving leftovers.

The volunteer placed the backpack just inside the automatic doors next to the vending machines while he collected donations from shoppers. A male subject entered the store, snatched the bag and left the premises, Milton police previously told Patch.
