🌱 Police Seek Help with Roswell Park Attack + New Italian Resteraunt

Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. The Roswell police are asking the public for help regarding a seemingly random attack that left Matthew Donald in a pool of his own blood at Roswell Area Park. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Roswell Police Department. Matthew could not tell officers or anyone what happened, but investigators did speak with several witnesses at the park. They also pulled all data from the license plate reader at the entrance of the park. Matthew remains in ICU with this wife at his side.(11Alive.com WXIA)
  2. The dining scene in downtown Alpharetta will soon have a new Italian restaurant. Sorella Vicina is coming to the Hamilton Hotel at 35 Milton Avenue. The concept is from Cellared Roots Hospitality Group, led by Phillip Cooper. The company also operates Vin 25 in Roswell and Citizen Soul in Alpharetta. (What Now Atlanta)
  3. Are your children interested in playing basketball? Milton’s recreational basketball league is open to girls in kindergarten through seventh grade and boys in kindergarten through the end of high school. Sign-ups are starting now! (City of Milton)

  • The 2022 Purple Pansies Annual Gala Pillars of Hope takes place tonight from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the Metropolitan Club, located at 5895 Windward Pkwy in Alpharetta. Proceeds from the event will go towards pancreatic cancer research.The evening will feature a cocktail hour, Italian multi-course wine pairing dinner prepared by Casa Nuova staff, silent auction, live auction, and entertainment.   • Enjoy a garden dinner at Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails, located at 800 Mayfield Road in Milton starting at 6:00 pm. Guests are first greeted with hors d’oeuvres , and libations are passed during the evening reception. During this time, guests have an opportunity to tour Milton’s Acre. Then, it’s on to a memorable four-course meal of inspired comfort foods served family-style under the stars accompanied by wine and the soothing sounds of a cellist. Menu items may include delicate squash blossoms stuffed with prosciutto and cream cheese or pimiento cheese and crawfish; or roast duckling with fingerling sweet potatoes, oyster mushrooms, heirloom snap beans, and candied pecan apple butter.   • My Chemical Romance with 100 Gecs are playing at the Ameris Bank Ampitheatre, 2200 Encore Pkwy, Alpharetta starting at 8:00 pm. They are considered one of the most influential rock groups of the 2000s and a major act in the pop-punk and emo genres. The success of the band’s previous albums was eclipsed by that of their 2006 rock opera concept album, The Black Parade, which was a major commercial success, with lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” topping the UK singles chart.   • Fulton County Schools could soon be getting a major security upgrade. According to Superintendent Mike Looney, the district plans to install special cameras, designed to read license plates, at every school in the district. “If someone comes on the school ground that is not allowed or banned for bringing a gun onto the school ground or something like that, it will alert our local law enforcement,” said Paul Hildreth, Safety and Security Director for Fulton County Schools.
