- A Roswell man was sentenced to 17 years after holding a 13-year-old girl for three weeks and filming sex acts. He lured her into his apartment and gave her alcohol and drugs in order to abuse her. He was caught by police after bringing her to a restaurant to meet her father. (WSB Atlanta)
- Great news for Alpharetta residents, glass recycling will resume in September. The City of Alpharetta is opening a drop-off center at the Department of Public Works located at 1790 Hembree Road; it will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Glass left at the new drop-off site will be transported to the Strategic Materials recycling plant located in College Park. Other recyclables and trash will not be accepted, and security cameras will capture any violations.
(City of Alpharetta) - Alpharetta residents are invited to a free shredding event to safely dispose of documents containing confidential information. It will take place on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Alpharetta Department of Public Works, 1790 Hembree Road, Alpharetta, from 8:30 a.m. until noon. (City of Alpharetta)

- Learn how to make handmade pasta and sauce at Publix Aprons Cooking School, 4305 State Bridge Road, Alpharetta. The class starts at 6:30 p.m. and is a fun way to spend time with family and friends. (Aprons School)

- The Milton Fire department held its annual awards event at Milton City Park and Preserve. Attendees feasted on food from Café Efendi while families enjoyed fire-themed bouncy houses, chalk art, and more. Volunteers from the National Charity League volunteered their time and they and the Milton Volunteer Fire Corps raised over $700 for kids’ activities and a Kona Ice Truck. Awards were given to this year's recipients. (City of Milton)
- It's time to sign up for the annual Alpharetta Mayor’s Corporate Challenge 5K. It will be on Thursday, Sept. 29 in downtown Alpharetta. Participants can run or walk and enjoy live music, food trucks, sponsor displays and friendly competition. (Awesome Alpharetta)
- Downtown Alpharetta' 17th Annual Scarecrow Patch starts soon; displays will be open from Oct. 3 – Nov. 1. The area will overflow with more than 150 scarecrows from local schools and classrooms, nonprofits, neighborhoods, families, and local businesses. Vote for your favorite scarecrow; the one with the most "Selfie Votes" will win the People's Choice Award! (City of Alpharetta)
