Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:
- There's good news for Alpharetta and Milton residents from recent Fulton County Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) allocation negotiations. This revenue is split between Fulton County and all of its cities, and the allocation is renegotiated every 10 years. Fulton County had initially asked for 35 percent of the revenue and agreed to drop it to just under 10 percent. The remaining 90 percent will be divided between all the cities in Fulton County, ensuring no city will lose revenue compared to 2021. (City of Roswell)
- Fulton County was planning to have all of the votes counted by midnight this morning. Officials placed 100 individuals in polling locations, plus the English Street Warehouse, where ballots are stored, to ensure the safety of poll workers and accurate election vote counts. Some workers from the 2020 election were threatened and harassed over conspiracy theories. (WSB Radio)
- Two election poll workers at the Ocee Library in Johns Creek were fired yesterday because of their comments and social media posts. The firing happened about 15 minutes before the voting started at the library, and the workers were a mother and son. The woman made a comment that was overheard at a poll worker event, and that led to an investigation of their social media posts. (WSB Atlanta)
