Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. Are you familiar with Senior Spokes? It's a free program for adults, ages 50 and up, where they ride bikes along with Alpharetta’s Bike Patrol Unit. They ride on special adult-sized tricycles and can participate regardless of ability. There are rides this month on May 9 and May 18 on the Alpharetta Greenway for a two-hour route. Registration is required. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution).
  2. Is your child interested in becoming a veterinarian? They might enjoy Little Vet Dog School classes, which are for children ages four to eleven (two different classes based on age group). Students will "adopt" a stuffed animal and care for it. For example, they will learn how to do exams, give stitches, remove ticks and other tasks. Classes start on June 7. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. Starting on May 8, a portion of Alpharetta's Kimball Bridge Road will be closed for one year due to construction. The affected section is between North Point Parkway and Northwinds Parkway; it runs over GA 400. There will be detour signs in the area. The bridge will eventually be replaced with a taller and wider structure. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. Passengers on a Delta flight from Houston to Atlanta were delayed for three hours due to bees. A large group were congregating on the wing, and they were shaken off by ground equipment. The reason for the delay is that the airline needed to ensure that "no surfaces of our aircraft got contaminated during the departure." (WSB Atlanta)
