Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. A driver on GA 400 was allegedly shot by another driver near exit 13 earlier this week. The victim said that he was driving in front of Joshua Kasparek, who became angry and started shooting at his truck. He had previously passed Kasparek, who was driving slowly in the passing lane. The bullets hit the driver's side window and a bullet fragment went into the victim's arm. He pulled over, called police, and they found the alleged shooter. Police arrested him and brought him to the Forsyth County jail. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. Three talented Milton High School students received scholarships for their interest in pursuing a career in the arts. The Milton Arts Council and the Hogan family gave $1,500 scholarships to Aoife Donohoe, Chris Mayer, and Anabelle Wildes. Congratulations to these students; they were selected from a number of applicants. (City of Milton)
  3. The City of Milton needs input from the public on a new road project located at the "Cox Road intersections at State Route 140/Arnold Mill Road, Etris/Ebenezer roads, and King Road." The purpose of this project is to improve safety and traffic flow along this route. You can view the project and make comments online, and at an in-person event this Saturday. Funding for this project is from TSPLOST and the city. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  4. Officials are reminding the public to be careful when cooling off in the Chattahoochie River. Twenty-eight people have drowned in the river since 2012, and more than half occurred in a section called East Palisades Unit called ‘Diving Rock at Akers Mill’ in Cobb County. Swimmers are encouraged to wear lift vests or other flotation devices, especially in that section. The river can be unpredictable due to currents and dam releases. 5. There is a possibility that the Alpharetta City Council will revise rules that shield candidates from ethics complaints before the municipal election this fall. The changes involve not revealing complaints made on candidates who are running for office until after the election. The purpose of the revision is to prevent "political weaponization." Of course, individuals can still bring complaints forwards; they must be filed within six months of the alleged violation, and no later than one year after the alleged action.
