- There was a shooting early Wednesday morning at the QuikTrip on the 3100 block of Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta. As of Wednesday afternoon, the alleged shooter was at large, and officers were trying to identify the gunman using security tapes. The victim was brought to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive. Alpharetta Police are asking the public to provide any information on this shooting. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Three individuals were arrested in Cumming on alleged drug and traffic violation charges following a traffic stop. They were driving "with no tag at the intersection of Mini Trail and Keith Bridge Road." Caleb Ingram, Melissa Mullinax and Susie Brogden were taken into custody for possession, driving with an expired license, canceled registration and other charges. Drugs found in the car include heroin and methamphetamine. (Appen Media)
- There will be Juneteenth celebrations in our area next week to celebrate the emancipation of Black slaves in the U.S. In Alpharetta, the Phi Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is holding an event at the Alpharetta Arts Center, located at 238 Canton St. It will be from 6-9 p.m. and will feature music and "guest speaker Penny Brown Reynolds, the deputy assistant secretary for civil rights at the U.S. Department of Agriculture." - You may have recently received a “Property Assessment Notice” from Fulton County. It is not a City Tax bill, and assessments are done by Fulton County, not the individual cities. The notices are sent out by mail and can be viewed at https://fultonassessor.org/. - The City of Milton is reminding the public to help maintain trails, parks and other open areas. Dog owners are required to keep their pets on a leash and clean up after them. - The Wacky World playground at Wills Park is going to be rebuilt in the spring of 2024, and help is needed by volunteers and donations.
