- The City of Milton has published its Parks and Activities Guide for this fall and winter, and it includes many fun and enriching activities. There are many exciting offerings including athletics, dance, photography, Tai Chi, community events and fun events like "Ladies Night." - A large part of the Chattahoochee River has been closed since the first week in July due to a large sewage spill that originated at Fulton County's Big Creek Water Reclamation Facility in nearby Roswell. It was caused by "an issue in the biological processes used to treat wastewater." Fulton County officials are monitoring bacteria levels in the river and will announce when it's safe to swim there again. Currently, it's not safe for humans and pets. The affected section is 15 miles long downstream from the from the Chattahoochee Nature Center. (Appen Media)
- Four recent high school graduates have received scholarships from the Alpharetta American Legion Post 201. Each scholarship is for $1,500. Recipients include Kayleigh Kilgore of Cumming, Chandler McDade of Marietta, Brady Kilgore of Cumming and Jack Parsons of Alpharetta. Congratulations to all of them! (Alpharetta-Roswell Herald)

- The Honey Baked Ham Company generously provided goodies to workers at the July 4 celebration at Alpharetta's Wills Park. Recipients included police, fire, 911 and even staff working at the jail. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
- Today is National French Fry day, and you can take advantage of it at McDonald's, no purchase required! Instructions on how to redeem the offer are on this link. - Moviegoers at Atlanta's Regal at Atlantic Station cinema were thrilled by a surprise visit from Tom Cruise. He made an appearance during the new 'Mission Impossible' movie with Christopher McQuarrie, the movie's director. The pair visited movies in five cities to promote the new film. (11Alive.com WXIA)
