Speed May Have Factored Into Fatal Crash Of 3 GA Students: Police

An Alpharetta High School senior and two University of Georgia freshmen, both age 18, died in a car crash after the driver lost control.

ALPHARETTA, GA — Speed may have contributed to a Tuesday evening single-vehicle crash that killed three Georgia students and injured two other students, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. at Westside Parkway near Maxwell Road, public safety officials said. Authorities said five 18-year-old students were inside the vehicle when it crashed.

The driver of the vehicle, a Georgia State University student, lost control of the vehicle and it landed upside down in a tree line, authorities said.
