Here are the top stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. A woman shopping at the Kroger on State Bridge had her purse stolen from her grocery cart. She paid for her groceries, placed her purse in the cart, and then left the store with her groceries in the cart. In the lot, she moved the groceries to her car and returned the cart. When she got home, she realized her purse was missing. She contacted the store, and no one had seen her purse. She pinged its location to a site on Jones Bridge Road, and it hasn't been recovered. The police searched through trash bins and dumpsters in the area and could not find it. (Appen Media)
  2. Are you interested in enjoying some Turkish food today? Stop by the Istanbul Cultural Center’s Annual Turkish Food Festival, located at the Istanbul Cultural Center of Georgia, 591 North Main St. #100 in Alpharetta from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Parking and shuttles are available at Alpharetta Elementary School, 192 Mayfield Road in Alpharetta. The goodies will include salads, kababs, desserts and other baked goods. (GlobalAtlanta)
  3. The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety has had to recently assist pedestrians who were in accidents with cars. It's important to watch traffic signals and use the crosswalks properly. They are reminding the public to be careful when crossing the road and have created a video on how to properly use the crosswalk with the H.A.W.K system on Highway 9 at the City Green. (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook)
  4. Important traffic alert: GA-400 northbound will be closed at I-285 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday through Friday next week for construction of a new bridge. Drivers will need to exit off 400 at exit 4A to I-285 eastbound, then use Exit 29 to Ashford Dunwoody Road. Then, they need to take I-285 westbound to Exit 27A, which will take them north on Ga. 400. Plan for delays and avoid this area if possible. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
