Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- The City of Milton is starting a summer camp this year and needs counselors. There are three types of positions available: manager, lead camp counselor and camp counselor. Campers will be ages 5-12, and will swim, play tennis, make art and spend time outdoors in the Milton Park and Preserve. The jobs are posted at https://www.miltonga.gov/.../human.../careers/-seldept-10. Camp sign-ups will start on Feb. 7. (City of Milton)
- Milton is holding a meeting this evening focused on "Urban Growth Boundaries — a possible new, additional tool to more clearly define dense urbanization and, in so doing, help preserve Milton’s rural heritage." It starts at 6 p.m. in City Hall's Council chambers and it is open to the public. One topic of discussion will be which areas will be high-density versus low-density. (City of Milton)
- Gas prices in our area have increased over the past few weeks due to higher crude prices and the reinstatement of the state gas tax."According to AAA, Georgia drivers are now paying an average of $3.39 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, 14 cents more than a week ago and 67 cents more than a month ago." Drivers can save on gas by maintaining their cars, shopping around for lower prices and slowing down; your milage decreases at speeds higher than 50 mph. (Cobb County Courier)

- A police chase in Buckhead nearly resulted in the death of a passenger in a nearby car. A BMW driver was fleeing from the police and drove through West Paces Ferry Road at a very high speed. A nearby car swerved, and narrowly escaped being hit. The BMW flipped over, and the driver was ejected. The BMW caught on fire, while the driver was running away. The police found the suspect and brought him to the hospital. Hadley Dye was having an Uber ride in the nearby car and said "I always take the right side preference. Had I been on the left side, I would’ve died in that Uber." (FOX 5 Atlanta)
