Suspect Took Stolen Vehicle Onto Topgolf Driving Range

ALPHARETTA, GA — The driver of a vehicle found in an unusually precarious position is facing a slew of charges after police discovered the SUV balancing on the edge of the driving range at Topgolf in Alpharetta.

Alpharetta police spokesperson Officer Howard Miller said officers responded to the venue at 10900 Westside Parkway around 7 a.m. Thursday after an employee "witnessed the car drive onto the driving range, and almost drove into one of the golf hole targets."

"Luckily, the car was held up by one of the cables that keeps the net in place," Miller said.

That vehicle, a 2008 Honda CR-V, and its driver, 42-year-old Benjamin Beasley of Atlanta, got into the area by driving through an open gate on an area of the venue that's only accessible to employees and maintenance vehicles.

Officers investigating the incident discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Cobb County, Miller said. Beasley was transported to WellStar North Fulton Regional Hospital for medical clearance before he was transported to jail. Beasley is charged with felony theft by receiving stolen vehicle and felony criminal damage to property in the second degree.

Topgolf spokesperson Morgan Schaaf said the incident was an "isolated" one where the driver without permission entered the property.

"No one was harmed in this event, and we are back to business as usual," Schaaf said.
