Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. Now that Thanksgiving is over, many of us are decorating for the holidays. If you're planning to enjoy a Christmas tree at your house, make sure to place it in a safe location to avoid causing a fire. "Place your tree at least (emphasis on at least here) 3 feet from any source of heat, like your fireplace, a space heater, candles or heat vents." (City of Alpharetta)
  2. The bridge along Birmingham Road in Milton needs to be replaced due to structural issues; it goes over Chicken Creek Tributary and is 30 feet long. The Georgia Department of Transportation is asking for feedback on the proposed detour that will be necessary during construction of the new bridge. The detour will exist for 9-12 months during construction, which won't start for several years. Here is a link to information on this project https://birmingham-rd-bridge-replacement-0016581-gdot.hub..... (City of Milton)
  3. Two well-known authors will be at the Alpharetta Library on Dec. 13 for a holiday-themed event. Mary Kay Andrews and Patti Callahan Henry will discuss and sign their books that evening. Many of their bestsellers will be available for purchase. The event starts at 6 p.m. and attendees are invited to an after party at Restaurant Holmes. Registration is required. (Alpharetta Library)
