Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:
- A woman was robbed while giving directions in the parking lot of Costco in nearby Cumming. She was at the store on Bald Ridge Marina Drive during the day when the pair asked for directions. While she was looking on her phone, they stole her wallet, as her purse was in her shopping cart. Two hours later, she found out they had charged more than $10,000 on her credit cards at Best Buy and Nordstrom. The police are looking for the pair, who are on camera. (WSBTV)
- The temperatures will be dropping tonight, which means everyone needs to be careful, especially on the roads. There is a good possibility of black ice in the morning. It will be windy, which could result in tree branches and other debris on the roads. In addition, the wind could result in downed power lines, causing electric outages. Stay inside if possible and avoid driving until it gets warmer on Sunday. (City of Milton)
- A Fulton County woman was scammed out of $1,100 over a fake jury duty summons call. The callers had her maiden name, date of birth and address. They claimed she missed jury duty and demanded the payment to keep her out of jail. (Fox 5)

From my notebook:
- If you need to use a generator due to the weather, make sure to use it safely. Don't use it indoors, as they emit carbon dioxide, which is deadly. Make sure your home has a battery-operated carbon dioxide detector; if it goes off, leave your house immediately. Use the correct power cords and make sure the generator isn't damaged before starting it.
(Alpharetta Department of Public Safety via Facebook) - Many of us will be on the roads during the holidays, and it is important to stay safe. Did you know that simply wearing a seat belt will lower your chance of a serious injury by 50 percent? Car wrecks are a main cause of death for people ages 1-54, so travel safely!
