Clarke County's Unemployment Rate Shows Slight Decline in February
The unemployment rate for the Northeast Georgia region also showed a decline this last month.

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that the Northeast Georgia regionβs unemployment rate declined to 7.8 percent in February, down four-tenths of a percentage point from 8.2 percent in January. The rate was 8.9 percent in February 2012.Β
The rate declined as a result of fewer new layoffs, according to a news release.Β
Clarke County's unemployment rate was at 6.4 percent in February, a decline of five-tenths of a percentage point from 6.9 percent in January. The unemployment rate in February 2012 was 7.2 percent.

The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February was 8.6 percent, down from 8.7 percent in January. The rate was 9.2 percent in February a year ago.
