Mom, Fetus Dead After Crash Kills Dad In Athens
A GA woman, whose husband was killed in a crash, and her 15-week-old fetus have died of their injuries suffered in the wrong-way crash.
ATHENS, GA β A mother and her 15-week-old fetus have died of injuries suffered in a wrong-way crash that killed the woman's husband Sunday on the GA-10 Inner Loop at Chase Street in Athens, police said.
Athens-Clarke County Police on Wednesday said Sara Waldroup, 25, of Athens, was the front seat passenger of a Toyota Camry involved in the crash. After being hospitalized for some time, both Waldroup and her unborn child have died, police said.
The deadly crash happened around 12:15 a.m. near Oglethorpe Avenue. Earlier in the week, police said Desiree Browning, a 26-year-old Lawrenceville resident, was driving a 2021 Kia Seltos the wrong way on GA-10 when she first hit a 2021 Mercedes-Benz then a 2020 Ford Expedition.

Waldroup was one of two people injured before passing away, while police said Browning and Choi, 25, of Athens, died at the scene.
A GoFundMe identified Waldroup as Choi's wife, not police.
"There are no words strong enough for the pain we are sharing," fundraiser organizer Aaron Bedgood Jr. wrote in the GoFundMe. "... She fought with everything she had β with courage, strength, and love β and her passing has left an ache that cannot be described. What began as hope and prayer has turned into unimaginable heartbreak."
Bedgood said the family "is hoping to have her laid to rest alongside her husband, Soonhoon, so they may be together forever."
Monetary donations will benefit medical expenses and funeral costs, Bedgood wrote. As of late Wednesday morning, the fundraiser collected more than $11,000 of its $28,000 goal.
Police asked anyone with information on the case to call Senior Police Officer Joshua Santos, (762) 400-7258.
This is the eighth fatality crash, resulting in 12 deaths, in Athens-Clarke County this year.
Another unborn child died this week, when a triple shooting occurred Saturday in Atlanta. The child's 18-year-old mother and a 21-year-old man were injured in the shooting, police said.
