Athens Couple Sees Burglar Jump from Window

The information in this report comes from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

An Athens couple told police on Monday that as they arrived at their Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway home around 12:30 a.m., they saw someone jump out of a window and run behind a neighbor’s house.

They entered the home and realized it had been burglarized, though nothing appeared to be missing, according to a police report.

The man told officers he looked out and saw two subjects in dark clothing run across the street, enter a vehicle, possibly an SUV, and fleeΒ  toward College Avenue.

The residents were unable to provide a description of the suspects.

  • A vacant Moreland Avenue residence owned by a Watkinsville woman was burglarized between 1:40 p.m. and 4:20 p.m. on Feb. 18. A handgun valued at $150 was stolen.
  • Between 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 18 and midnight on Feb. 19, a Connally Circle residence was burglarized. A TV and DVD player were stolen. The total value was $403.
