Athens Police Respond to Numerous Burglaries

Crime blotter information is provided by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department. An arrest does not mean a conviction.

Athens police have responded to several burglaries and burglary attempts in the past two days. Here are reports provided by the department:

  • Demario Demond Butler, 23, of Fox Ridge Apartments, was arrested and charged with burglary after police found him near the at 1880 W. Broad Street while responding to an alarm at the store early Nov. 23. Officers found evidence of forced entry at the store and viewed video of the intruder wearing clothes that matched the suspect's. The man also had blood on his hand and small pieces of glass in his shoes.
  • Between 5 and 11 p.m. on Nov. 22, an attempt was made to enter a Jennings Mill Pkwy residence.
  • , 368 Oak St, was burglarized between midnight and 7 a.m. Nov. 22. Nothing is known missing.
  • A man reported his Chalfont Lane residence burglarized between 11 a.m. and noon on Nov. 22. Prescription medications valued at $1 were stolen.
  • Officers responded to a burglary in progress at a Westchester Drive residence about 10:50 p.m. Nov. 22. The resident had locked himself in an upstairs room. The intruders left before police arrived. Nothing is known missing.
