Summary:Β Provides Spanish interpretation for patients, families, physicians and staff. Assists Spanish speaking patients to communicate with the healthcare team. Visits Spanish speaking patients and makes referrals to the various ARMC departments or services that can address specific needs. (46801)

Skills:Β Must be able to interact with staff, patients, and their families and friends in a productive and harmonious manner. Must have knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of ARMC and the ability to support both. Medical terminology (in English and Spanish) required. A strong focus on customer service and attention to detail is required. Must have understanding of Spanish language and culture. Excellent computer and writing skills (English and Spanish) required. Must have the ability to build and maintain relationships.

Experience:Β 2 years of working in a Bilingual environment in a Customer Service or Social Services field.

Summary:Β Performs a range of duties to include but not limited to patient registration, ordering tests, specimen procurement and specimen processing. Proficient in performing venipuncture to include patients age newborn and up. Greet patients and obtain identification and insurance card(s). Verify requisition/order is complete; contact provider for clarification if necessary. Accurately perform registration when entering all patient demographics and billing information in the Hospital Information System (HIS). Determine necessity of ABN and complete ABN/other forms as appropriate. Accurately order tests in the HIS and verify tests/labels in the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Verify specimen requirements for tests understanding the complex relationship between test(s) ordered and specimen(s) collected. Obtain blood, urine, throat and nasopharyngeal specimens. Process specimens including blood, urine, body fluids, cultures, pathology and cytology specimens. Collect and/or package specimens for reference laboratories. Perform Glucose Screen testing according to current procedure. Perform Quality Control and Proficiency testing as assigned. Perform Quality Assurance review according to policy and procedure to ensure accuracy. Provides training for new hires after successful completion of probationary period. Basic understanding and following of concepts of LEAN and Six Sigma. Adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines as appropriate. Maintain strict patient confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA policy throughout the patient visit. Requires excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients and communicating with providers, laboratory staff, managers, nursing and physicians. Serve as frontline representative of RLO to patients and the community. (46258)
