Jamie Hood Argues with Judge, Lawyers About His Case

The man accused of slaying Athens, Ga., police officer Buddy Christian has words with Judge David Sweat.

Jamie Hood fought with Judge David Sweat this week about whether Sweat was fit to decide if another judge could hear Hood's murder case. After an extended back and forth, Sweat stopped the hearing without setting another date, the Athens Banner-Herald reprts.

Hood, to death and wounding officer Tony Howard, has had several contentious encounters with judges .

He's argued that Judge Lawton Stephens should not preside over his trial because Stevens is a longtime acquaintance of Howard and his family. The Banner-Herald reports that Hood could be heard yelling at his lawers during a break in court action on Wednesday. And during a confrontation with Sweat, he interrupted the judge frequently.
