Lights Flicker, Window Shatters as Burglar Attempts to Break into Athens Woman's Home

An Athens woman tells police she was upstairs in her Bailey Street home Sunday, May 19, around 10 p.m. when the lights began to flicker.

Curious about what was happening, she crept downstairs to see what was going on.  That's when she heard a back window shatter.

Officers investigated and found that the back door had been kicked and a window had indeed been broken. Someone had also turned off power to the home at the meter.

The perpetrator didn't get inside, police determined.
