Rice Crispy Treats, Fake Tattoos & Moonwalk--All Waiting at the Athens Montessori School Fall Festival

The fall festival is Saturday from 10am until 3pm.

By Leigh Hewett

One of my favorite ways to celebrate the autumn season with my family is to head over to the Athens Montessori School Fall Festival.

My two boys are always jittery with excitement while we wait in line at the entrance to purchase our tickets. Music can be heard floating over the crowd from the stage as the children from various classes perform.

I always want to take my time and shop at the artist market for local crafts but my kids each grab a hand and drag me from one activity to the next. Between the live music, magic shows, farm animals, and crafts, everyone is happy.

A favorite of my boys is the moon walk where they jump their little hearts out. A popular spot for little girls is the "Sassy Salon," where little ladies can be seen walking away with neon painted fingernails. Kids like to have a seat at the "tattoo parlor" and get some fake ink.

We love to stop by the Scholastic Book Fair to buy a book and then head over to the bake sale and grab a homemade yummy treat. If I'm feeling lucky, I'll join in the cake walk.

We've made really great family memories and can't wait to spend time with the folks at Athens Montessori again for the 2013 festival. It's all going down Saturday, November 2nd. The action starts at 10 am and ends at 3 pm.

Take advantage of free parking on campus at 3145 Barnett Shoals Rd or at the former Barnett Shoals Elementary School Parking Lot just across the street.

It's super fun for the entire family, but they ask that you please leave your pets at home. Hopefully, I'll see you there. I'll be the mom covered in fake tattoos and munching happily on Rice Crispy Treats.
