School District Could Get $30K from AT&T for Cedar Shoals Cell Tower
There's some debate about how the money will be allocated to schools.

The Clarke County School District will received $2,500 a month fromΒ AT&T if the company is allowed to build aΒ cellphone tower beside the Cedar Shoals High School baseball field.
According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, the company will also payΒ $10,000 up front, increase the monthly payments by 2 percent annually. It will alsoΒ turn over half of any fees it might receive if another cellphone company buysΒ a transmitter slot on the tower.
The tower would help provide better cell phone and Internet reception for its Eastside customers, the company says. The story says the school board will vote on the matter during its monthly voting meeting on Thursday.
