Shoplifter Hits Store Employee With Car As He Escapes

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest isn't the same as a conviction.

An employee at Okhi Dokie, 790 Barnett Shoals Rd, told police that two black men came in the store around 7:30pm on October 10.

While one was at the counter, the other walked out of the store with a bottle of juice. The man at the counter then left without making a purchase. Both men got into a dark, hatchback-type vehicle.

The employee followed them outside to get the tag number. He said he was standing about five feet behind the vehicle when the driver put it in reverse and backed up. The employee tried to move out of the way, but the vehicle struck him on his knee. The driver then left in an unknown direction.

EMS responded and treated the injured man at the scene; he refused transport to the hospital. One suspect was shorter than the other was; the taller of the suspects was possibly wearing a black jacket. The shorter male was the driver. The investigation continues.
