UGA's Brendan Carr Elected Student Representative for The Association for Applied Sport Psychology

Brendan M. Carr, of Athens, Georgia, has been elected Student Representative for the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), an international professional organization that promotes the field of sport psychology. He assumed office at the organization’s recent annual conference in New Orleans, La. The executive board position includes promoting AASP at the student level and organizing several student-led initiatives.

Carr is a sport psychology consultant and a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services at the University of Georgia in Athens, specializing in performance excellence and restorative performance in sport. He earned a master’s degree in sport and exercise psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as well as a master’s degree in professional community counseling from The University of Georgia.

 He recently completed the Diversity & Inclusion certificate program through The University of Georgia Office of Institutional Diversity, and has also completed the primary certification in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy from the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. He is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

In addition to AASP, Carr is a member of the Coalition for the Advancement of Graduate Training in Sport Psychology, the American Psychological Association, the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity, the National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA Team Handball.
