Want to Honor Great Teachers? Come to the Awards Dinner Sponsored by the Foundation for Excellence in Public Education

The banquet is open to the public, with tickets $20 each.

By Rachel Watkins

On July 21, 1983, a small group of education-minded citizens in Athens established the Foundation for Excellence in Public Education. This enthusiastic group believed that excellence in public school education is the foundation for a prosperous future for the community.

This summer, the Foundation for Excellence turned 30 years old. The Foundation has supported and recognized excellent teaching in public school classrooms for three decades. Its annual awards banquet honors public school teachers and administrators who both inspire and positively influence the lives of the children in Athens-Clarke County.

The Foundation cordially extends an invitation to the community to see firsthand the great impact these award winners have on the students in Clarke County’s public schools. For the 30th-year celebration the price to attend has been reduced to $20 per person. This year’s banquet is scheduled for Monday, October 7, 2013, at 6 p.m. at The Classic Center in downtown Athens.
