What should be the future of parks in Athens-Clarke County?

Some residents of the Boulevard neighborhood have been pushing for small green spaces like , and some county commissioners have been supportive.

But the Athens Banner-Herald reports that the wants commissioners to focus on large recreational facilities that can serve lots of reisdents.

On a limited and dwindling budget, where should the county direct its resources -- toward a patchwork of neighborhood oases or toward improving and expanding destination parks? Is it possible to do both?
