The Athens Nonprofit was not selected for part of $30 million in Promise Neighborhood funds.
spent many months putting together to help Athens children get ready for school and then succeed there. But the group has learned that it will not get a piece of a major federal grant to help implement that plan, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.
The nonprofit, which has relied on a planning grant and the time and expertise of more than 500 and local agency officials, will continue to work toward its goals, Tim Johnson, executive director WIT’s parent group, told the Banner-Herald.
“Certainly we’re disappointed, but this was never about any one grant,” Johnson said.
