The Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy (BASA) presents the second annual Cultural Connections, a performing arts series held at the Innovation Amphitheater in partnership with the Georgia Council for the Arts. This series brings several professional artists to our community, and provides affordable and entertaining evenings of music, dance, poetry and more for all to enjoy.  In addition, BASA's own student artists will present audience members with a special opening performance before the headline artists for each show take the stage.

Cultural Connection Events
The first show in the series features Ah Surely, a traditional Irish Music and Dance Trio from Atlanta, Georgia. The concert will showcase many distinctively Irish musical instruments such as the uilleann pipes, banjo, guitar, Irish wooden flute, tin whistle, and bodhran, as well as Irish step dance and songs in both English and Irish Gaelic.
As a special bonus for those in attendance, an opening dance act performed by students of the BASA Dance program will warm up the stage for the Ah Surely Trio.
Gates open at 7:00pm. Show starts at 7:30pm.
Known for his spoken word poetry and dedication to creating safe spaces where any individual can tell their truth, Marquice L. Williams will share the stage with a few of Barrow’s fearless student writers in an evening of original music and spoken word poetry. Spellbinding vocal performances will be lifted high as the sun sets over the lake at the Innovation Amphitheater.Â

A sample of Metro Atlanta’s only fully-professional part-time symphonic orchestra will come to Barrow to share the beauty of all the stringed voices of the orchestra. Under the direction of the JCSO maestro, the individual beauty and nature of each stringed voice will be spotlighted before the quintet plays together in concert for the audience.
