Fire Destroys Outbuilding, Spreads to Nearby Pickup and Trailer

A second outbuilding was also heavily damaged.

Officials believe an Aug. 31Β fire that damaged two outbuildings, a pickup truck and a trailer was caused by "an intentional human act."

Barrow County communications officers received a 911 call at 5:08 Saturday morning advising of heavy smoke in the area of City Pond Road in Winder.

β€œFirefighters were dispatched to the area to determine the cause of the smoke,” said Lt. Scott Dakin in a released statement. β€œUpon arrival in the area they found heavy fire conditions in an outbuilding in the 800 block of City Pond Road.”

By the time firefighters arrived, one outbuilding at the location had already collapsed. The fire had spread to another nearby outbuilding, a Ford F-250 pickup truck and a fifth wheel trailer.

"Due to the amount of fire and collapse of the buildings, firefighters fought the fire from a defensive position," Dakin explained.Β "Both buildings and the two vehicles were heavily damaged by the fire."

Barrow County Emergency Services Fire Investigation Team and the Barrow County Sheriff’s OfficeΒ are investigating the incident. Β Β Β
