Man Who Tried To Run Over Officers Then Shot By Police

A man was accused of trying to run over officers with his car while they attempted to serve an arrest warrant for another person in Barrow.

AUBURN, GA — A man was injured in a police shooting after authorities say he tried to run over two officers with his vehicle around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Mt. Moriah Road.

The incident happened when Barrow County deputies and Auburn Police officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant, the Barrow County Sheriff's Office said.

The warrant had not been issued for the man accused of trying to run over the officers with his vehicle, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said. However, other arrest warrants were active against him at the time, the GBI said.

A deputy shot at the man who was driving, hitting him once, the GBI said. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment, the GBI said.

None of the officers were injured during the incident, the GBI said.

Once the GBI's investigation is complete, it will be given to the Piedmont Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
