Hundreds of Lortabs Reported Stolen in Two Separate Incidents

Approximately 86 Xanax pills were also allegedly taken.

Somewhere in Barrow County, hundreds of Lortab pills are in the hands of people other than the individuals to whom they were prescribed.

On Sept. 1, a 25-year-old Winder man reported the theft of 109 Lortabs and approximately 86 Xanax pills. The man said the medicine had been in his bedroom and neither he, nor anyone else who lives at the residence, knows who took the pills. The man said his doctor advised him he would need to file a theft report before a new prescription could be issued.

Four days later, a 32-year-old Winder woman called the Barrow County Sheriff's Office to report the theft of her Lortabs. The woman said she had the medication with her when she went to Walmart and noticed the pills were missing a few hours later. The woman said she had filled the 120-count prescription the previous day and thought that she had taken three of the pills.

The remaining 117 Lortabs, she said, must have been stolen while she was at Walmart.

There are no listed suspects in either case.

Lortab, a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone, is used to relieve moderate to severe pain.
