It’s no secret that health challenges affect every community—but in Barrow County, diabetes is becoming a growing concern. That’s why Wimberly’s Roots, Medlink Georgia and individual supporters are teaming up to begin a free monthly community conversation series about diabetes on Tuesday, July 29, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Wimberly’s Roots Demonstration in Winder.

This isn’t a lecture—it’s a welcoming space to ask questions, get real answers, and connect with others who care. Take home practical tips for eating well and staying healthy on a budget.

“Here in Barrow County, nearly 4 in 10 people are estimated to be living with or at risk for diabetes,” said a Wimberly’s Roots organizer. “We know that can feel overwhelming, so we’re creating the space for folks to come together, learn more, and feel supported.”

The event will feature a professional Nutritionist from Medlink, a cooking demonstration and a wealth of materials in an open conversation about what diabetes really looks like in our neighborhood—from early signs to daily management and everything in between.

Whether you’re living with diabetes, supporting a loved one, or simply want to stay informed about your own health, everyone is welcome.
