The Bite Right Cooking School is open to individuals living with diabetes or pre-diabetes, those who may be at risk, and family members or caregivers hoping to better support a loved one. The next class is Thursday, December 4 from 5:30-6:30 in the Wimberly's Roots Demo kitchen in the Wimberly Center for Community Development at 163 MLK Jr. Drive in Winder. 2026 classes will be held the 3rd Thursday of every month thru May. Registration can be completed online at the Wimberly’s Roots website, www.WimberlysRoots.com, or by calling Suzanne at 770-867-7495, ext. 1021.

As diabetes continues to affect residents across the state—Georgia now ranks 12th in the nation, with rural areas such as Barrow County seeing rates as high as 17.5 percent—the program aims to make healthy eating more approachable. By combining culinary skills with realistic nutrition guidance, Wimberly’s Roots is working to improve health outcomes and reduce food insecurity through accessible community education.
