Woman Finds Bucket of Fish Heads in Her Driveway, Blames Neighbor

A bucket full of fish heads is not exactly what most would consider a neighborly gift, yet a Winder woman believes her neighbor left just that in her driveway during the overnight hours of Sept. 1.

The Hancock Bridge Road resident called the Barrow County Sheriff's Office after finding the fly-covered remains.

Though the woman said she had not seen her neighbor on her property, she believes he not only left the fish head-filled bucket in her driveway, but has also left numerous other dead animals on her property since their long dispute began.

"[The woman] then began listing numerous incidents/complaints involving she and [the neighbor] dating back to the year 1984," the deputy wrote in the report.

While the deputy was gathering information, a gray passenger vehicle began approaching the residence. The woman reportedly yelled, "That's his wife!" before running into the roadway in front of the vehicle.

"The driver of the vehicle slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting [the woman]," the deputy observed. 

The deputy ordered the woman to get out of the roadway and return to her driveway. 

After speaking briefly with the driver and confirming her identity, the deputy returned to the woman and provided her with a case number. He then interviewed the neighbor.

When informed why the deputy was there, the neighbor laughed and said he and the woman had been in an ongoing civil dispute "concerning her numerous violations of county ordinances."

The neighbor denied having placed the bucket full of fish heads on the property and said he did not know who did.

Due to the conflicting statements from both parties and lack of probable cause, no further action was taken.
