Investigators say privately raised booster funds were misused through missing deposits, unauthorized transfers, debit card spending, and cash withdrawals after school officials flagged discrepancies.
   

• GSP report: City driver pulled in front of bus (theblacksheartimes.com) — Blackshear readers are learning more about a deadly November 10 crash involving a Pierce County school bus, after state troopers released their completed report. Investigators say a Waycross driver pulled into the bus’s path on Meadow Wood Road at Ware Street Extension; two 10‑year‑old students and the bus driver were uninjured, but the Waycross couple later died from their injuries.
   

• Carter introduces bill awarding Congressional Gold Medal to the fallen patriots of Thiokol (house.gov) — A new bill in Congress would award the Congressional Gold Medal to the Thiokol Memorial Museum, honoring 30 workers killed in explosions at the Woodbine munitions plant, including Mildred Davis of Blackshear. The proposal, led by Rep. Buddy Carter with bipartisan co-sponsors, aims to permanently recognize these largely unsung Vietnam‑era patriots and the sacrifices made by their families and communities.
