1. DNA testing shows Golden Isles restaurants serve American shrimp (thecurrentga.org) — If you’re ordering shrimp in Brunswick or the surrounding Golden Isles, testing shows you’re almost certainly getting wild-caught American shrimp as advertised. A recent DNA study of 44 local restaurants, including many in Brunswick, confirmed accurate labeling, while state lawmakers consider requiring menus to clearly mark imported shrimp statewide.
   

2. Police: Glynn County teen assaulted store employee, struck pedestrian, spat at officers (wjcl.com) — Police in Brunswick say a 17-year-old and an adult woman face multiple charges after an alleged assault at the Canal Crossing Five Below, a hit-and-run, and a confrontation with officers at Perry Place apartments. No officers or suspects were reported injured, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Glynn County Police or Silent Witness.
   

3. December 16, 2025 News from Scott Ryfun (theislanderonline.com) — Glynn County authorities report another local teacher arrest on child-related battery and cruelty charges, plus a dramatic I-95 rescue where officers pulled a driver from a sinking truck. Prosecutors also announced a plea deal in a child confinement case that includes banishment from the Brunswick Judicial Circuit, while the popular “Tour de Grinch” continues visiting neighborhoods across the county this week.
   

4. Sweat ready to break out on the court (coastalcourier.com) — A Bradwell Institute basketball standout may return from an ankle injury in time to play in a post-Christmas “Hoopin’ at the High” tournament hosted in Brunswick. Senior forward Jaylin Sweat has signed with West Georgia but is focused on finishing a strong high school season, aiming for a championship while polishing his outside shooting.
