4th Earthquake Shakes Part Of Metro Atlanta Near Lake Lanier
One particular metro Atlanta area has been the site of three recent earthquakes happening days apart.
BUFORD, GA — In a matter of days, a fourth earthquake shook a part of Gwinnett County.
The 2.2-magnitude earthquake happened around 3:15 a.m. Thursday northwest of Buford and near southern Lake Lanier, according to data from the United States Geological Survey. Its depth was 8.9 kilometers.
As of Friday morning, four people from Cumming and six people from Buford reported feeling the earthquake. Lake Lanier is comprised of Cumming, Buford and Gainesville.

The area northwest of Buford has been the site of other earthquakes in the past week. Just Sunday, the area was rattled by a 2.3-magnitude earthquake.

Then, before that on June 6, the area had a 2.5-magnitude earthquake, data shows. An area 3 kilometers north of Sugar Hill was hit with a 2.1-magnitude earthquake Friday.
It has not been revealed what makes this area attractive for recent earthquakes.
Gwinnett County Police told Patch on Monday that no injuries had been reported at that time.
