Trapped Construction Worker Freed
Gwinnett Fire responded to the incident incident on Camp Branch Road in Buford

Updated, 1:51 p.m.: The construction worker who had been trapped in a ditch by a collapsed retaining wall Tuesday has been freed, Gwinnett Fire officials said.
According to a Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services news bulletin, the worker was being transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries. He was conscious and able to communicate verbally with firefighters.
The man was at home doing construction work on the foundation and was working in a ditch along the back of the house when the incident occurred.

Original post, 1:32 p.m.: Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services has responded to an "ongoing" situation Tuesday in Buford in which a construction worker has been trapped in a ditch by a collapsed retaining wall.
According to a news release, the location is a private residence in the 3100 block of Camp Branch Road.

The extent of the man's injuries are not known at this point, the release said.
Specially trained firefighters, known as technical rescue technicians, are working to free the man using air bags to lift the concrete and shoring/cribbing equipment to stabilize the area. This is necessary to prevennt further collapse, the release said.
