Flash Flood Warning in Gwinnett; LanierWorld Closed
Thunderstorms pounded the Buford area early Sunday.

Don't plan on an excursion to LanierWorld at Lake Lanier on Sunday (May 19).
A flash flood warning was in effect for Buford and the Gwinnett area until Sunday afternoon.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the Gwinnett area until 12:45 p.m. Sunday. Also, a severe thunderstorm warning was in effect until 7 a.m.

As a result, LanierWorld was to be closed Sunday because of conditions, according to its Facebook page.

STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY...THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
