At-Large Teen Robbery Suspect Could Be Armed: Gwinnett Cops

One 17-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Gwinnett County, while a second suspect remains at large.

BUFORD, GA — Police are asking for the public's help in locating a teenage boy accused of robbing multiple people at gunpoint.

Gwinnett County Police said Monday detectives are searching for Jay-Lan Broughton, 17, of Duluth.

Allegations against Broughton stretch back to May 24, when officers responded to a 911 call in the 6000 block of Apple Grove Road in Buford, police said.

One of the two people at the scene told officers their jewelry, debit card, air pods and license were stolen by a person who was armed with a gun, along with four accomplices, police said.

During an investigation, detectives found an unidentified vehicle they say was used by the suspects after the armed robbery, police said.

Edmond Buggs, a 17-year-old suspect who police said was linked to the vehicle, was arrested and charged on suspicion of armed robbery in an unrelated case, police said. Buggs acknowledged being involved in the Apple Grove robbery and identified his accomplices, police said.

Broughton was identified as the person armed with a gun, police said, adding this was seen on video surveillance, police said.

Police said Broughton is at large, potentially in Gwinnett County, and is possibly armed with a black handgun.
