The suspect was accused of threatening to sexually assault the driver's "girlfriend," who police say was actually his 15-year-old sister.

BUFORD, GA — A 57-year-old Flowery Branch man is facing charges after police say he assaulted an 18-year-old male driver until he became unconscious during a road rage incident Wednesday in Buford.

The 18-year-old man told police he and the driver of a blue pickup truck exchanged hand gestures near Peachtree Industrial and R.H. Smith boulevards before the truck driver followed him onto Little Mill Road, then onto Buford Dam.

Police said the man told officers the suspect tried to run him off of the road. The man's 15-year-old sister was inside of the car at the time.

The siblings drove into a driveway on Buford Dam near Marina Way, where the suspect was accused of pulling up behind the man and getting out of his pickup to repeatedly punch the man in the face through the window.

Police said the suspect threatened to sexually assault the man's "girlfriend" in the passenger seat.

"The suspect continued to punch him even as he exited the vehicle. Eventually, the victim lost consciousness. When he awoke, he called the police to report the incident," police said in the news release.

Officers were able to use Flock cameras to locate the suspect, identified as Duane Andrew Sudderth, and arrested him Sunday, police said.

Sudderth was charged on suspicion of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, first-degree cruelty to children, third-degree cruelty to children, entering auto and aggressive driving, police said. He is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond, police said.
